MIAMI JULY CALENDAR OF UNIQUE EVENTS

Hello Readers,
Wishing you a Happy 4th of July !
This month I will be a speaker on a panel for the The Asian Real Estate Association of America (AREAA ). My esteemed colleagues, Richard Silver - Sotheby's Toronto and Kevin Brown - Sotheby's NYC will be joining me on the panel. While in California, I plan to visit our affiliate offices and network with my associates. Of course, I'll be bringing brochures and presenting my listings.
If you're in Miami this summer, make sure to take advantage of Miami Spa Month. Miami Spa Month is an annual event where top-notch resort and hotel spas offer spa treatments from $109 to $159 during the months of July and August. Please see the events section for more details.
On the real estate front:
Miami Agent Magazine reports that Miami was ranked the eighth best large city in the United States, according to a recent study by Resonance Consultancy.
Total Miami luxury home sales rose 24.1 percent year-over-year in May as existing condominium sales rose for the second consecutive month, according to a new report by the MIAMI Association of REALTORS® (MIAMI) and the Multiple Listing Service (MLS) system.
"Miami real estate luxury sales continue trending upward," MIAMI Chairman of the Board George C. Jalil said. "Strong pent-up demand for $1 million-and-above Miami properties, sellers becoming more reasonable with their prices and the federal tax reform leading more home buyers from high-taxed northern states to purchase in Florida, which has no state income tax, are several key factors."
Miami's Cash Buyers Represent almost Double the National Figure. Miami's high percentage of cash sales reflects South Florida's ability to attract a diverse number of international home buyers, who tend to purchase properties in all cash.
I wish you a wonderful month of July.

Who knew Diddy loved art
this much?
|
 |
Grammy award-winning hip-hop producer and rapper Sean "Diddy" Combs has been revealed to be the buyer of Kerry James Marshall's monumental painting Past Times (1997), which sold for $21.1 million at Sotheby's on Tuesday. The result is a world auction record for the artist, and is thought to be the highest price ever paid for an artwork by a living African-American artist.
Jack Shainman-Marshall's long-time gallerist-confirmed the identity of the winning bidder in an article published by the New York Times. "I know that this work has found a home in a collection with purpose and an eye towards preserving legacy," the dealer said. On Friday morning, the gallery congratulated Marshall on Twitter "for making history" and Diddy "for an amazing acquisition."
Speaking to the Times, Shainman said that Diddy was first introduced to Marshall's work by fellow hip-hop producer and art collector Kaseem "Swizz Beatz" Dean. And Diddy reportedly viewed the work at Sotheby's New York headquarters ahead of Tuesday night's auction.
The record price comes amid significant market interest in the artist's work. Marshall views himself as an artist who has dedicated his career to introducing images of people of color into museums and the history of art. His work mimics historic Impressionist painters such as Manet and Seurat though his renditions focus on representations of African Americans.
Building on his record price, Marshall's Untitled (Blanket Couple) (2014) sold at Phillips for $4.3 million on Thursday, cementing his place in the top-end of the auction market.

"Working with Joelle was an absolute pleasure. We bought and sold one unit in six months for a substantial gain, Then repurchased a newer, better "off market" unit. She is tenacious and honest and has the utmost integrity.
The key is to trust their ways and it will all come together. She knows the market well and is "in the know" of deals happening. The people that make up this business are hard working and accurate.
I chose Joelle for all these reasons and is my realtor I will continue to use in the future."
